Safety is the driving force behind all our operations. New driver candidates must have a minimum of 3-5 years verifiable driving experience in their class, a clean abstract and a police clearance certificate to be considered for a position.

Qualified candidates must pass pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening and road test. We provide a complete an orientation program which includes TDG training, safety training, HOS training on our Peoplenet system.

We complete a review of our drivers safety manual which includes our safety policy, spill reporting, accident / incident reporting, customer site safety procedures, general work practices and employment expectations. All drivers must wear safety footwear, company uniform, and appropriate PPE equipment for product that they have been specifically trained to haul and unload.

We conduct a minimum of four driver safety training meetings per year with an agenda that includes a SAFETY TOPIC, fleet business, and any upgraded or ongoing training that is required. All driver abstracts are pulled twice a year for review along with the TONA/TMH operating authority (CVOR). Drivers file are kept up to date at all times.


  • All drivers are part of the TMH drug and alcohol program where we conduct random testing year round.
  • Service and annual safety inspections are kept up to date at all times.
  • We have won the Private Motor Truck Council (PMTC) Canadian Fleet Safety Award 1998, 2008, and 2012.


The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada established a Driver Hall of Fame to recognize the superior over the road performance of drivers employed by members of the PMTC.

TMH Logistics is very proud to have five drivers who have demonstrated the skill and professionalism to qualify as Hall of Fame Members.

Jimmy Peters:
Jimmy was selected for the Hall of Fame in 2013. He has been driving across Canada for over 36 years and has amassed over 5 ½ Million Kilometers Accident Free. Jimmy delivers bulk dangerous goods including hydrogen peroxide and corrosive acids. For the last several years Jimmy has been making regular runs to Cedar City, Utah – a tough run in the winter time that requires chaining and special care under difficult conditions. Through it all Jimmy has repeatedly proven his skill and dependability – he is a true professional respected by his peers and clients alike.



Claude Rivard:
Selected to the Driver Hall of Fame in 2011, Claude distinguished himself with over 25 years of Safe Driving and over 4 Million Kilometers Accident Free. Claude is recognized as a natural leader, has an exceptional work ethic and is well respected by his fellow drivers. He now acts as a Driver Trainer and Supervisor in Pointe Claire.



Daniel Pilon:
Daniel Pilon was selected to the Driver Hall of Fame in 2009 as a result of his exemplary driving record – 33 years of Safe Driving and over 5 Million Kilometers without a preventable accident. Daniel has displayed an exceptional work ethic as demonstrated by only missing 10 days due to illness during his 33 year career – a remarkable achievement. Now retired, Daniel distinguished himself as always being dependable and consistent and provided a steady influence for his peers – a natural leader.


George Barnes:
George was selected for the Driver Hall of Fame in 2008 and is now retired. While employed with TMH/Tona, George achieved a record of 37 years and over 3 Million Miles of accident free driving. Well respected for his skill and ability as a professional driver, George always worked with a “Safety First” attitude and provided a splendid example for his fellow workers to follow.


William Purvis:
Bill has been employed with TMH Logistics since 1987. Bill has been a professional driver for a total of 36 years, and has amassed over 5 million kms of accident free driving during this time. Bill believes in a culture of safety, refusing to take shortcuts, and setting an excellent example for his coworkers, in part by sharing his knowledge and displaying an excellent attitude. Bill believes in excellent customer service, and will do whatever he can to ensure the customer is happy and satisfied. Bill is also a dedicated family man, and he and his wife Denise love spending time with their 5 children and their families.
